Appointing a president is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Trustees. The next UO president will help catapult the university into an exciting new phase. With a new governance structure, burgeoning research activities, a talented pool of faculty, and a climate ripe for progress, the UO’s future – and that of its students – is bright.
The process to search for, recruit, and ultimately appoint a president must be thoughtful, disciplined, collaborative, creative, and thorough. To manage this process, the Board of Trustees established a Presidential Search Committee charged with identifying the strongest candidates to serve as the UO’s next president, and to forward recommendations of top finalists to the Board of Trustees. The board also established a Presidential Search Advisory Group to ensure that the committee has support and insight from important constituencies both on and off campus.
Public Input Sessions
The Presidential Search Committee held six public outreach sessions. A summary of information gathered can be found here.
