Jimmy Murray is the technology specialist and student coordinator for the UO’s Mathematics Library and the Allan Price Science Commons and Research Library. In this role, he trains, mentors, and oversees the work of student employees; supports the DeArmond Makerspace; and develops training programs.
Murray’s UO service and campus involvement include membership on a variety of teams, task forces, committees, and ad hoc groups that support student learning, education, and research. In addition, Murray was elected twice to serve as a classified staff representative on the UO Senate where he worked to bring forward the thoughts and concerns of students, staff, and faculty. He currently serves on the Senate Executive Committee which advises the Senate president, assists in setting the agenda for each Senate meeting, and facilitates the work of the Senate. Murray has also served on campus committees such as the Senate rules committee, University Library committee, and the Classified Staff Training and Development Advisory committee. Murray, a member of SEIU, has twice served as a UO delegate to the General Council, the primary legislative body of SEIU 503 which meets biennially.
Murray's studies at the UO focused on cultural anthropology with a minor in history.
